The ASH ISTH NHF WFH guidelines for the management and diagnosis of von Willebrand disease (VWD) are the product of an innovative international collaboration with the voice of patients at its heart. In this session, designed particularly for people with VWD and those who care for them, Nathan Connell, MD, MPH, clinical vice chair of the guideline development panels, will preview two recommendations ahead of their publication, planned for later this year. He will explain how they were developed by the panels of international experts on living with, and diagnosing and treating, VWD, supported by a team of methodologists.
Mark W Skinner, JD, NHF co-representative in the collaboration and long-time advocate for people with bleeding disorders, will elaborate upon the importance of involving patients in the development of guidelines with examples from this process. Diagnosis panel co-chair Paula James, MD, FRCPC will moderate the session and the question period that follows, which will also feature management panel co-chair, Veronica Flood, MD, and methodology lead Reem Mustafa, MD, MPH, PhD. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about these exciting new guidelines and pose your questions to the experts!
