On Wednesday, June 3 at 9:00 a.m. EDT (13:00 UTC/GMT), the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) will host a 60-minute webinar for people with bleeding disorders to address concerns related to dental care during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2. The focus will be on sharing tips on prevention and managing dental complications during these challenging times.

This webinar will be chaired by Glenn Pierce, MD, PhD, WFH Vice President, Medical (U.S.A). Presenters Maria Elvira Pizzigatti Correa (Brazil), WFH Dental Committee member; Zikra Alkhayal (Saudi Arabia), WFH Dental Committee member; and Alison Dougall (Ireland), past Chair of the WFH Dental Committee will offer recommendations on how to deal with the current pandemic from the dental perspective.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Impact of COVID-19 on dentistry
  • How patients cope: self-management of dental complications during confinement
  • Risk assessment of treatments/procedures
  • Prevention: why it was important pre-COVID-19, now and for the future

The webinar will also include a Q&A session, with a panel composed of the chair and the presenters.

We encourage you to submit questions for the Q&A by emailing the WFH at  [email protected] no later than Sunday, May 31, 2020.  Participants can also type live questions directly into the Zoom question and answer box and our experts will try their best—time permitting—to answer.
