The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) 2020 World Congress will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital, from June 14 to 17, 2020. Participants from many different backgrounds will attend, from hematologists, nurses, and specialists, to researchers, caregivers and patients.
As the largest congress for the bleeding disorders community in 2020, it’s not surprising that many people have already penciled in the event on their calendars. The Congress has the unique benefit of being big enough to attract renowned international speakers—but small enough to make it easy to get around and meet people.
The size of the Congress is just one factor that sets the WFH 2020 World Congress apart from other events in the bleeding disorders community. There are many other reasons to attend the big event, and today, we will look at four that make Congress truly unique.
1 – Patient inclusive
Unlike many medical congresses, the WFH World Congress is also attended by patients. Consequently, many aspects of Congress are geared towards the needs of patients and the kind of content they are looking for. Congress is also designed to offer patients opportunities to network, catch up with old friends and make new ones.
2 – Multidisciplinary
The WFH World Congress is multidisciplinary—meaning that it is comprehensive, focusing on many interest areas. In addition to medical and scientific sessions, Congress will cover other topics such as how technology will revolutionize care, the role caregivers play in the treatment process, health economics, and the voice of women with bleeding disorders.
3 – Open
The ultimate goal of the WFH is Treatment for all, no matter where you live. That’s why the WFH selects Congress host cities based on a number of criteria—including the needs of our national member organizations (NMOs). We include everyone’s voice in our process and provide support where it is needed. We are very proud to be bringing our Congress to Malaysia—and the greater bleeding disorders community in Asia—in 2020.
4 – Global
The WFH 2020 World Congress is a truly global event that attracts all the major stakeholders in the bleeding disorders community—including key decision makers such as government representatives. This means that the many discussions and talks that happen at Congress have a real power to move care forward.
